Former West Bloomfield Man Indicted in Drug Ring

Javon Harvey, 36, is one of 10 people facing federal drug and firearm charges. Indictments are an accusation and are not

A former West Bloomfield resident is among a group of alleged drug runners that face federal charges in Pennsylvania.

Javon Harvey, 36, and nine other men are named in a federal indictment unsealed earlier this month by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Western District of Pennsylvania. A grand jury levied 16 counts against the group, including conspiracy, drug possession, drug distribution and weapons offenses, according to a news release.

Documents show Harvey and the nine others conspired to distribute one kilogram or more of heroin between June 2011 and May 2012. He and two others are also charged with one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. If convicted, he could face a minimum of 10 years in prison and up to life, the news release stated.

Former Detroit resident Carl Thompson, 34, is the only other defendant with direct ties to Michigan. Both men remain in custody in Pennsylvania. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pennsylvania State Police conducted the investigation.

Harvey has no pending cases or criminal convictions in Oakland County, records show.
