Get Out: Family Friendly Concerts, Library Celebration and Strolling Dinner

From Temple Israel's Banding Together Concert to a community banding together to celebrate the library, there is lots to do in West Bloomfield this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. West Bloomfield Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks for the activities to hit and events to attend in the area.

Where:

When: Saturday 7 p.m.

Why go:  Banding Together is a musical extravaganza featuring local bands The Live Dash, The Jam Society, Teen T'Fillah Team, and many other talented musicians.  The concert benefits Summer in the City, which is a nonprofit organization that tries to make a real impact on Detroit by offering mentoring and tutor programs, neighborhood beautification, and community gardens.

Where:

When: Saturday 9 a.m.-noon

Why Go: Kids will get a free kit to build a working #20 Home Depot Race Car. For children, it's a great confidence builder to take home a project they can say they built themselves.

Where:

When: Sunday 1-4:30 p.m.

Why go: The West Bloomfield Library is a recipient of the 2010 National Medal for Museum and Library Service.  This is the highest honor a library can receive and officials want to celebrate their recognition with the community.  The library will have refreshments, live music and a special family friendly event to celebrate.

Where:

When: Sunday 4 p.m.

Why go: Congregation B'nai Moshe continues celebrating its 100-year anniversary by having the family friendly duo Gemini perform a live concert. Afterward, the congregation is offering kosher delicacies with a strolling Israeli dinner.

Where:

When: Sunday 6-11 p.m.

Why go: Temple Israel invites all to celebrate Purim with Brotherhood and poker. It's a night of fellowship and cards plus an opportunity to win the prize pot (if you play your cards right.)
