Beth Rowley writes about a disease attacking gardens in the area. Rowley writes, "The Downy Mildew disease attacking garden Impatiens has struck in 33 states including Michigan. This has surprised both scientists and plant pathologists across the United States on how quickly the disease has spread. This relatively new disease has been showing up on impatiens and was first identified in 2004."

Refusing a Breath Test Under Michigan's Implied Consent Law Can Mean No Driving

Attorney and Local Voices blogger Aaron J. Boria give legal advice in his latest blog. Boria writes, "This penalty for a first offense Implied Consent Refusal is 6 points on your driving record, $2,000.00 in driver responsibility fines, and a one year suspension or your driving privileges. You have 14 days to request a hearing at the Driver Assessment and Appeal Division branch of the Michigan Secretary of State to contest the refusal. If you do not request an implied consent hearing you will lose by default."
