Last Chance: Filing Deadline for Nov. 6 Election is Tuesday

Become a candidate for a seat on the West Bloomfield School Board in the general election with these tips.

If you are politically-inclined and looking to make a difference in public education, there is just two days left to get on the Nov. 6 general election ballot.

One seat on the is up for a six-year term. All candidates for partisan and nonpartisan seats, need to file their nominating petitions or applicable fees by 4 p.m. Tuesday. Candidates must also complete an affidavit of identity to be on the ballot.

The seat is currently held by , whose fifth term ends Dec. 31. Tobin is currently expected to run against John Reed of West Bloomfield.

When filing the Affidavit of Identity and Receipt Form, a minimum of 40 signatures and a maximum of 100 signatures are required from qualified and registered electors of the district. Candidates have the choice of paying a nonrefundable $100 filing fee in lieu of filing nominating petitions. Once filed, the deadline for withdrawal is Friday, Aug. 17 at 4 p.m.

Documents may be submitted to the Oakland County Clerk's Office, or  no later than Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 4 p.m.
