New Census Data Helps Define West Bloomfield

The number of households increased, but the number of homeowners decreased from 2000 to 2010.

What defines a home?

City-specific household and family data released this week by the U.S. Census Bureau take a peek inside the typical home in West Bloomfield, as well as across Oakland County and the state.

Most of the data is not surprising: During the past 10 years, the number of homeowners across the county fell as the number of renters increased. Additionally, the number of traditional families across the county decreased, while the number of nonfamilies increased. (The Census Bureau defines nonfamilies as people living alone and households that don't have any members related to the householder.)
