A lot happened this past week, and we want to make sure you didn't miss a thing. Here are some of the biggest stories on Patch:

A bright, yellowish stain on Canton Center Road south of Cherry Hill Road was caused by a chemical spill on Tuesday, according to Canton police reports. The driver of a truck carrying a barrel of yellow/green dye concentrate stopped when he noticed the spill as he was driving on Canton Center.

Police closed the road to southbound traffic on Canton Center during the clean-up, causing minor traffic back-ups.

Upon investigation, police noticed the barrel containing the bright liquid substance was not secured during transport.

The driver was cited for spilled load and unsecured load violations, according to the police report

 need the public's help to try and identify a vehicle that is tied to the theft of construction equipment from the Andover Road project near the Bloomfield Township Municipal Complex.

Surveillance footage from nearby township facilities show a suspicious, dark-colored Ford Super Duty pickup truck leaving the scene towing a non-descript trailer and Bobcat front loader from the construction site near the intersection of Andover and Exeter roads at about 7:30 p.m. July 13, police reports said. The items are collectively valued at $42,000.

The roadway, which also leads to  , was closed from Exeter to Telegraph Road in mid-June for complete reconstruction. Also nearby are the The , the Bloomfield Township Senior Services Center and the .

The video is an important lead, but was taken from a distance and did not produce and any still photos that are of good enough quality to release publicly, Sgt. Kurtis Dudek said.

On June 20, 2012 at approximately 2:20 the White Lake Township Fire Department was called to  at Teeple Beach in the Highland State Recreation Area.

A two-year-old girl was seen floating face up in the water by 12-year-old Jamieson Prine. He in turn alerted two adult females, Nicole Aquilina and Angel Brant. The ladies jumped into action and pulled the young girl from the water. They began chest compressions while they called for help from anyone who knew CPR. The young child began vomiting water when Kelly McKnight who was trained in CPR began to help. The child continued to vomit water and started to breathe on her own.

When the Fire Department arrived the toddler was frightened, as would be expected, but she was breathing normally on her own. Her vital signs were good. As a precaution she was transported to Huron Valley Hospital and later released.

Each of the lifesaving participants were honored with a framed Exceptional Civilian Service Award at the July 17 White Lake Township Board meeting.
