Rapidly Falling Temperatures Will Bring Wind Gusts, Icy Roads Tonight

Here's the latest on West Bloomfield-area weather.

The story of southeast Michigan's wild January weather continues tonight, as forecasters call for a 40-degree temperature drop accompanied by high winds and snow.

In the Greater West Bloomfield area — as in all across southeast Michigan — we've experienced snow, sleet, rain, fog and even thunder this week. 

It was 49 degrees at 11 a.m. Wednesday in West Bloomfield.

Tonight, according to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to drop to the low 20s. There is a 70 percent chance of snow in West Bloomfield beginning at about 1 p.m.

The hazardous weather outlook calls for "gusty winds" of up to 40 to 45 mph as well as icy conditions on the roads.

"Temperatures will fall rapidly late today and tonight. ..." according to the statement. "This will allow moisture left from earlier rainfall to freeze creating slick spots on untreated roadways and surfaces."

Here's what's in the forecast for the rest of the week:

  • Thursday: A chance of snow with temperatures between 12 and 24 degrees.
  • Friday: Mostly clouds with temperatures between 12 and 19 degrees.
  • Saturday: A chance of snow with temperatures between 17 and 23 degrees.
  • Sunday: Mostly clouds with a high of 29 degrees.
