Snow Day: Farmington Schools Closed Tuesday

Although the snowfall has ceased in West Bloomfield, areas of the township are still recovering from a storm which dumped 10 inches of snow between Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.

Farmington Public Schools remained closed for the second straight day, while West Bloomfield and Bloomfield Hills students returned to school after canceled classes Monday. Township offices reopened after closing for the President’s Day holiday.

The National Weather Service calls for a forecast of sunny conditions, with a high around 23, and wind chill values as low as zero. Wind gusts could reach as high as 18 mph. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover around a high of 32 for the next two days, although snow showers are expected by Wednesday.

The morning commute is largely comfortable, according to Google Maps’ live traffic updates, with slowdowns on Orchard Lake Road in between Lone Pine Road and Long Lake Road.

The storm is a result of the warm, moist air experienced this past week mixing with a cold blast of arctic air from the north. It is expected to move quickly through the Midwest and out to the east coast.
