Super Bowl Uniform? This Year, it's Tefillin

Congregants of B'nai Moshe in West Bloomfield will celebrate the Jewish mitzvah of wearing tefillin this weekend. What does the tradition mean to you?

This weekend, hundreds of millions worldwide will plan to celebrate the key game of the 46th annual NFL season by watching the Super Bowl on Sunday. In West Bloomfield, Congregation B'nai Moshe will celebrate the 12th annual Worldwide Wrap event by wearing tefillin.

  • When: 9 a.m. Sunday
  • Where:
  • Cost: Free, but registration is required to participate in a scheduled breakfast following Shacharit service at 9. Call ahead at 248-788-3600.
  • Why Go: The tefillin are the set of small, black leather boxes worn around the arm with a wrap as a mitzvah, or a worthy deed which can be done by someone of any faith background. They are frequently worn by observant Jews during weekday morning prayers, and Congregation B'nai Moshe will work to promote that this weekend.

Following breakfast, a "Musical Tour of Israel" will be provided by Cantor Earl Berris. Sounds like a Super Sunday.
