This Week: School Board Meetings, Signing Day

These are five topics guaranteed to get you talking in West Bloomfield this week.

1. The Walled Lake Consolidated Schools Board of Education meeting Thursday night is expected to feature Superintendent Kenneth Gutman offering an recommendation from three plans designed to handle the closures of and elementary schools in June, in areas of transportation, building capacity, keeping neighborhoods together, a balance of diversity, and other specified parameters. The West Bloomfield Schools Board of Education meeting Monday night will be the first after last week. 

2. The weather forecast calls for more rain, clouds, and cold. The National Weather Service is expecting a high around 33 degrees on Monday with a 60 percent chance of precipitation, and new snow of around one inch possible. Later in the week, it's expect to warm up to 44, with a good chance of showers.

3. Wednesday marks the first time of the calendar year that a high school senior can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for college football with an NCAA school for the fall 2012 season. The West Bloomfield area's finest footballers, including , , and , will officially decide on where to go to college.

4. Groundhog Day is Thursday: Is more winter weather on the way? Punxsutawney Phil will make his annual prediction this Thursday in Punxsutawney, PA on Groundhog Day. If he sees his shadow, be on the lookout for more cold weather.

5. While looking forward to the Florida GOP primary Tuesday, don't forget to ask someone if they're registered to vote in the Michigan primary. for the Feb. 28 vote.
