This Weekend: See 'Wall-E', Student Dancers at the Berman Center

Film: 'Wall-E'

  • When: 1 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: Berman Center for the Performing Arts
  • Cost: $11
  • Why Go: In this week's Kids Sundays, the Berman will be showing the family favorite, Disney Pixar's Wall-E, sthe story of a small waste-collecting robot who follows his heart and embarks on a great space adventure.

Dance: Choreographer Showcase

  • When: 8 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: Berman Center for the Performing Arts
  • Cost: $11-$21
  • Why Go: Some of the most outstanding and creative dance talent from Michigan colleges will be on the display this weekend at the Berman as part of "Michigan Five: Choreographer Showcase." Dancers from Oakland University, Hope College, Western Michigan, Grand Valley State and the University of Michigan will perform. To buy tickets, visit www.theberman.org or call 248-661-1900.

Music: Kim and Reggie Harris

  • When: 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday
  • Where: West Bloomfield Township Public Library
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: As part of its Music @ Main concert series, the Friends of the West Bloomfield Township Public Library will host Kim and Reggie Harris for two shows this weekend. Consummate musicians and storytellers, Kim and Reggie Harris combine a strong folk and gospel legacy with a solid background in classical rock, jazz and pop music. Family: Mother-Son Bowling Party

  • When: 1-3 p.m. Saturday
  • Where: Wonderland Lanes (8265 Richardson Rd. in Walled Lake)
  • Cost: $17 for residents; $19 for non-residents
  • Why Go: West Bloomfield is calling for all moms and sons to spend an afternoon together at the annual Mother-Son Bowling Party" at Wonderland Lanes. The afternoon includes two games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza and pop. There will be goody bags for all the boys. Plus, bring a canned good or non-perishable item for Hospitality House of Walled Lake.

Books: Friends of WB Library Review 'The Lace Reader'

  • When: 10 a.m. Friday
  • Where: West Bloomfield Township Public Library
  • Cost: Free
  • Why Go: Steve Berman will lead a discussion on the latest book from the Friends of the West Bloomfield Library Book Review Series, The Lace Reader by Brunonia Barry. In The Lace Reader, Barry takes a look at a small town crime featuring a woman who's descended from a long line of mind readers.
