Weekend Planner: Magician at the Mall, Hanukkah Wonderland, and Double Play in Concert

Patch tells you what's happening this weekend around West Bloomfield.

It's the last weekend before Hanukkah and Christmas arrive, so it's time to get out there and enjoy all the activities in and around West Bloomfield. The month of December always brings a wide variety of events for you to enjoy. All week long we have been counting down the days to help you plan your weekend with options of events to attend.

When: Saturday at 11 a.m.

Why go: Take a break from your last minute holiday shopping, and take the kids to enjoy The Amazing Clark on Saturday for the Playhouse Theater at Orchard Mall. The Amazing Clark will dazzle you with some amazing magic and cause you to laugh with his funny puppets. Full of variety this show is sure to entertain, but be prepared to participate because The Amazing Clark loves audience participation.

Where: 

When: Friday at 8 p.m.

Why go: Just in time for all the holiday parties, you can learn both classic and American style patterns of the Viennese Waltz through Glenn Clark's Stardust Ballroom at  on Friday night. You will be able to impress your friends as you take the floor and twirl around dancing the grand Viennese Waltz. After the lesson, you can stay for the dance party which includes the best mix of ballroom, latin, night club, swing, and country dancing. Alcohol is not permitted, but snacks and refreshments are included.

When: Sunday from 12-6 p.m.

Why go:  is hosting a Hanukkah Wonderland on Sunday.  will be overrun with Judaic activities and entertainment that children of all ages will love.

At 11 a.m., women can enjoy a Caffeine for the Soul class with coffee and donuts. Families can enjoy an exciting line up of activities, foods and crafts all day long. The Wonderland features the world's largest dreidel shaped moonbounce, an opportunity to stuff a donut, an olive press demonstration, interactive Hanukkah game show, Hanukkah Lego land, design a Hanukkah t-shirt, and get your picture taken with Judah the Maccabee. There will also be a design your own Dreidel Magician show.

When: Sunday 3 p.m. or 5 p.m.

Why go: Husband and wife team Patrick Sciannella, tubaist, and Amy Ridings, flutist, create the unique professional Double Play duo. The Farmington Hills-based couple create their own unique arrangements as well as play classical music. They perform tunes from Bach to Broadway and entertain with humorous and historical anecdotes.  They not only entertain, they try to educate with fun family friendly demonstrations such as the Baroque flute and "hose-horn."

The couple has performed and toured the nation together since 1989.  Come out to the Main Library to hear the duo perform their last concert of this year.

Where: 2025 Beechmont, Keego Harbor 

When: Saturday at 10 a.m.

Why go: It's the perfect time of the year for a cookie exchange! On Saturday, you can head out to our neighboring city with two dozen of the same homemade cookies in hand. Pick and choose two dozen different home baked cookies baked by your neighbors to take home. Mixing and matching cookies gives your taste buds a chance to try new ones or old favorites. If you really like a certain cookie, ask the baker for the recipe so you can make it for your family this holiday season.
