Kids create a free rumblin' race car

Where: , 1801 S. Telegraph Rd., Bloomfield Hills

When: 10 a.m. Saturday

Why go: Lowe's offers their free Build and Grow Workshop for kids on Saturday mornings. Today's project is a Rumblin' Race Car.

Children who attend receive the project free, a merit patch, apron, certificate and safety goggles. Children should be at least 3 years of age and parents need to participate.  Since supplies are limited it is best if you register online.

Farmington Hills Mercy High auction

When: 5 p.m. Saturday

Why go: For 33 years, the all-girls high school on 11 Mile Road in Farmington Hills has hosted a silent auction following mass. The top goal of the Mercy auction is to raise money to help with the cost of educating students, but promoting a sense of community within the parent population is important, too.

This year's auction won't be short on fun, with several items up for auction including a full year of undergraduate education at the University of Detroit Mercy. In all, the auction will offer 400 items, a strolling dinner, and special raffle items.

Sounds of Motown come to the Berman

Where: 

When: 8 p.m. Sunday

Why go: The Motown sound helped put Detroit "on the map" in the 1960's and 70's, and Detroit-based Serieux still performs in the style of fun. This 10-member group will be bringing its music to the Berman on Sunday for $14 per person. 

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

Where: 

When: 7 p.m. Friday, 2 p.m. Saturday, and 7 p.m. Saturday

Why go: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat has entertained audiences since 1970 with its timeless story of Joseph and his coat of many colors.  students have been hard at work for months to put their spin on the story, and the results are sure to be amazing.

 and Chris Leonard star as Joseph, Lauren Alo and Maddie Hughes as the Narrators, and Danny Snook and Drew Warnecke as Pharaoh.  

Tickets are $11 and can be purchased over the phone at 248-865-3670 or online at showtix4u.com. Tickets are also available at the door for $12.
