What's Happening This Weekend, West Bloomfield?

Why go: There is a growing concern about the improper disposal of sharps used by community residents. In response, the Beaumont Medical Center of West Bloomfield is partnering with West Bloomfield Township and Stericycle, a medical waste disposal company, to offer a sharps drop off event on April 27 for proper disposal of needles, syringes and lancets used by residents. Drop off sharps in containers with lids in the parking lot of the Beaumont Medical Center.

When: 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Why go: Lolly Ella Jewelry is hosting a career dress clothing drive to support the work of the Lighthouse of Oakland County. Individuals are asked to drop off donations of gently used women’s clothing — no older than 5 years, suitable for women aged 18–25, clean and on hangers. Suggested items include matching pant suits, solid color shells or tanks, blouses, jackets, slacks, purses, jewelry, closed toe shoes, coats, hats, gloves, lotions and perfumes.

Where: Oakland County Boat Club, 2330 Ferndale, Sylvan Lake

When: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Why go: The Keego Harbor Summit Sports will be at the Oakland County Boat Club's In-Water Boat Show with kayak and stand-up paddleboard (SUP) demos. They will have a full line of both kayaks and SUP for people to try out. Anyone who would like can done a bathing suit or shorts and try out either a SUP or kayak — both, by the way, are excellent sources of exercise and a way to get out of the house and on the water in a relatively in expensive way.
