What's Happening This Weekend, West Bloomfield?

From a rummage sale to seminars, there's plenty to do in town this weekend.

Why go: The  community hosts its annual rummage sale this weekend. Cash only, please.

When: 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday

Why go: Henry Ford invites women to a day of seminars and exhibits on topics of preventative care, sleep, aging, sports medicine, and more. The farmers' market will be open, and continental breakfast and a box lunch will be provided. Where: Orchard Lake Nature Sanctuary, Pontiac Trail west of Old Orchard Trail

When: 2-3 p.m. Sunday

Why go: Bring your camera and a comfortable pair of shoes, as naturalist Carol Fink will lead a free tour through the rolling terrain and spring flowers of Orchard Lake. Visit gwbhs.com for more information.

When: 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Sunday

Why go: The reggae band Gratitude Steel Band will be the featured musical group, featuring both traditional Carribean and western songs.  Learn more about this exciting family of musicians at their website: gratitudesteelband.com. When: 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday

Why go: Keep your car costs down, eliminate breakdowns, and get more mileage for your money this summer with free advice and tips from Kenny Walters, owner of auto shop Mufflers and More (490 N. Pontiac Trl., Walled Lake).

This twice-yearly event invites local drivers to zoom in to the Walled Lake auto shop for a once-over – and a bite to eat while they wait. There will also be some impressive classic cars to view and chat with their aficionado owners while your car gets a good look from auto professionals. And, consumers are invited to tour the shop during this open house.
