You Asked: Crews At Work on Farmington, Halsted Roads

The city's asphalt resurfacing program has roads under construction for the next three weeks.

Farmington-Farmington Hills Patch reader and West Bloomfield resident Kevin McCarthy sent in a question about what looked to him like the beginning of road construction on Farmington Road this morning.

So we called Dept. of Public Works Superintendent Kevin McCarthy (how's that for a coincidence?) and learned the area is part of the city's asphalt resurfacing program – and Farmington Road is not the only area affected.

"In fact, that's going on right outside my window," said McCarthy, who works out of the city's building on Halsted.

McCarthy said crews will be working on Halsted between I-696 and 12 Mile, as well as the stretch on Farmington Road, for about three weeks. As they mill off pavement and re-pave the roads, workers will be stopping traffic for short periods of time.

Paving is expected to begin as soon as next week, McCarthy said.
