62nd Annual Jewish Book Fair

The Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan
Detroit’s 62nd Annual Jewish Book Fair will be held November 6-17
and will feature leading figures from the arts, entertainment, politics,
business, journalism and much more, including an opening night appearance by
Jeffrey Toobin, author, staff writer at The
New Yorker
and senior legal analyst with CNN and the closing of the two
week event with an intimate conversation with
celebrated entertainer and author, Michael Feinstein The Gershwins and Me: A Personal
History
in
Twelve Songs.

The country’s oldest and largest Jewish book
fair, the event will include presentations at both JCC campuses, 6600 W. Maple
Road in West Bloomfield and 15110 W. Ten Mile Road in Oak Park.

Embracing the art world, we host
extraordinary Patron Night speaker, Peter Max, along with an art exhibit! His
book The Universe of Peter Max is a must-have for every home. Did we know his
story as a Shanghai Jew? Join us to hear the remarkable story that is Peter Max
on Patron Night. I Kiss Your Hands Many Times is Marianne Szegedy-Maszák’s
memoir of her wealthy industrialist Hungarian family, their conversion to
Catholicism and their ultimate escape from the clutches of the Nazis - an epic
saga. For foodies we have kosher cooking with Kim Kushner in Modern Menu. The



Book Fair shelves will include the newest and
best cookbooks from gluten-free to vegetarian. Let us be your cooking guides.
T.V. Food Network enthusiasts will delight in journalist Allen Salkin and his
book From Scratch as he dishes the behind-the-scenes, real stories of the
network’s personalities!

The JCC in Oak Park also will host many
authors and again present its signature programs, Bubbies, Bagels & Books
and Kids Can Be Authors. In addition, there will be a trip down memory lane for
the Oak Park Reunion!



Closing our Book Fair, that world famous
entertainer, Michael Feinstein will close with an intimate conversation about
his book, The Gershwins & Me: a Personal History in Twelve Songs.
