Eric Gutman from Broadway to Obscurity One Man's Journey to Get More Attention

Eric Gutman is back home and ready to share his life in a new one man show.  After  long and lengthy years as a Gypsy in New York and on tour, Eric Gutman was performing for almost three years in the Tony and Grammy Award-winning sensation, Jersey Boys.  In his run with this extraordinary show, Eric performed over 1,200 shows in six different roles (including three of the Four Seasons) as well as one of the few actors to play live instruments on stage.

Gutman is a Detroit, Michigan-born actor and musician whose extensive theatre and on-camera work has helped catapult him into the spotlight. Currently, Eric has written a one-man biopic musical being commissioned by The Berman Center for the Performing Arts aptly titled,
“Eric Gutman: From Broadway to Obscurity”, which will be performed January 25 and 26, 2014 at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts.

Gutman’s  first taste of success was being cast in 1999 in the Gem/Century Theatre’s production of Forbidden Hollywood.  In the 14 years that have since followed, Eric became a resident company member of the “Forbidden Family” performing in six different versions of Forbidden Broadway, Forbidden Hollywood and Forbidden Christmas (Off-Broadway and National Tour).

“Eric Gutman: From Broadway to Obscurity”, is a show about one-man’s struggle to get to the top of his game, and then the struggle to find his place when the game has ended.  Gutman will take the audience on a journey through current musical theatre songs as well as a parody of  lyrics to tell the story of an actor's time in New York and some amazing stories from behind the scenes of the four-time Tony and Grammy Award winning musical, Jersey Boys. Gutman will showcase the dream of performing and coming back home to have a family realizing his true dream.

Eric holds a BFA in Music Theatre Performance from Western Michigan University.  He is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association since 1999 and The American Federation of Musicians.

Each and every month at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts will offer the audience the sounds of the most extraordinary music, theatre and programs for every taste. Tickets for
“Eric Gutman: From Broadway to Obscurity”, which will be performed January 25 and 26, 2014  are $27.00 and $22 for JCC members includes service fees. Tickets, group sales and additional information can be seen at www.theberman.org or by calling the ticket office at 248-661-1900.
