According to Silver, “Our most
serious mission as a business is to foster the idea of stewardship of the
environment—a mission The Greening of Detroit has embraced since its
inception.” The Greening of Detroit inspires others to create a “greener”
Detroit through planting and educational programs, environmental leadership and
advocacy. Since 2008, The Garden Cruise has raised over $60,000 for The
Greening of Detroit.

"We appreciate Deborah Silver's commitment and support
in helping create a cleaner and greener Detroit for all to enjoy. The Garden
Cruise has raised more than $60,000 over the past six years to support The
Greening of Detroit's work, and has helped us make a significant impact in our
city. We are pleased to have her steadfast support." said Rebecca Salminen
Witt, President of The Greening of Detroit.
The gardens featured on The
Garden Cruise are some of the finest in the area. Each is varied in style and
approach, but all reflect an ownership for whom the beauty of a garden is an
important part of life.
