2012 Beacon of Hope Celebrates 40th Anniversary of Lighthouse

Lighthouse of Oakland County has serviced the needs of an evolving population for the last four decades. The 21st annual Beacon of Hope is the organization’s largest fundraising event of the year, highlighting the continued importance of Lighthouse in helping those in need find solutions to hunger, homelessness, financial instability, unemployment, and more. Beacon of Hope XXI will be held March 3 at Orchard Lake Country Club in Orchard Lake, starting at 6:30 p.m.

Featuring a sit-down dinner, live and silent auctions and more, Lighthouse’s signature fundraising event is consistently well-attended by dedicated individuals and corporate leaders throughout Oakland County. This year’s entertainment will include music group The Blue Effect and magician Baffling Bill. Auburn Hills-based RGIS, a global leader in inventory, supply chain and merchandising solutions, will be the corporate honoree.

Community support empowers Lighthouse’s continuing efforts to help those in need become self-sufficient and independent of government assistance. As the demographics of its clients have changed, so has Lighthouse’s range of services.

“Many other community organizations have come and gone over the last 40 years, but we remain strong because of our individual and corporate donors,” said Lighthouse President and CEO John Ziraldo. “Our organization has evolved to meet the changing dynamics of our population and what has occurred with our local economy. The families and individuals we work with now come from all social, economic, and cultural backgrounds. We help everyone from single mothers fighting substance abuse challenges to former white-collar executives suffering from long bouts of unemployment.”

Tickets are still available for the 2012 Beacon of Hope. For information on this event or other Lighthouse projects, contact Priscilla Perkins at pperkins@lighthouseoakland.org or 248-920-6000 ext. 2123.
