JB Smoove Headlines Anti-Bullying Fundraiser in West Bloomfield

Defeat the Label, an international anti-bullying non-profit, will hold its first-ever comedy fundraiser, "Bullying is No Joke; An Evening of Comedy in Support of Anti-Bullying", with comedian JB Smoove Oct. 26. 

The 7:30 p.m. event takes place at The Berman Center for the Performing Arts in West Bloomfield.

“Thirteen million children are bullied in school each year, this is a problem that is affecting the lives of all of our youth and it is time to take a stand,” said Jeff Sakwa, President of Defeat the Label. “Our hope is that Defeat the Label is the key organization when it comes to the anti-bullying movement, providing supports, programming and classroom toolkits to offer students an opportunity to take a stand against bullying in their own schools.”

Actor, writer and comedian JB Smoove is best known for his recurring role as Leon on the popular HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm. He has also appeared in Till Death, Russell Simmons's Def Comedy Jam, Saturday Night Live, Mr. Deeds and many other television shows and feature films.  

Funds raised will help launch an interactive application, BullyShout, that will be integrated with a 24-hour anti-bullying hotline. Tickets can be purchased at defeatthelabel.com.
