Mitch Ryder Headlines Cruisin' Summer Concert for Alana's Foundation

The Aug. 15 event will fund education activities and flu vaccine clinics, as well as support for grieving parents.

Rock-and-roll icon Mitch Ryder will perform a benefit concert this month to support a West Bloomfield charity that works to prevent flu deaths and support parents grieving the loss of a child. 

Zachary Yaksich, president of the foundation and Alana's father, said the first annual Cruisin' Summer Concert Bash", which gets underway Aug. 15, 7 p.m., at the Royal Oak Music Theatre, will also feature Jessie Dean, a pop/soul artists from Michigan, along with a special book signing event for Heart Soul Detroit, with a percentage of book sales donated to the foundation. 

Alana's Foundation was founded in 2009 to honor 5-year-old Alana Yaksich, who died unexpectedly after becoming ill with the flu. In addition to educating the public and hosting flu vaccine clinics, the organization offers financial grants and short-term financial assistance to families. 

Tickets are $22 general admission, $37 balcony and $77, which includes a meet and greet with Mitch Ryder. Tickets are available at the Royal Oak Music Theatre Box Office, 318 W.
