Snow Park And Santa House Coming Friday

It must be the season, because snow is forecast for Main Street this weekend, and lights and Santa are there, too.

On Friday, the official holiday season begins on Main Street with the Light Parade, the opening of the Santa House, and the first of three days of Snow Park.

Martinez Patch will have a booth on Main Street that day, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Stop by and say hello and get some free gifts.

Snow Park opens on Friday, Dec. 2 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sled rides for kids of all ages will be available for $3 per ride, or four rides for $10. Snow Park will continue on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and again on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will also be a snow play area for kids 5 and under for $3 for 15 minutes.

Santa is coming to town as well. He will be taking requests from kids from noon to 4 p.m., and again from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. A full schedule of Santa's House will be posted on Martinez Patch later this week. Photos will Santa will be taken this year by Nicole DiGiorgio of Sweetness and Light Photography. She promises professional lights and backdrop, and the ability to see the photos on a monitor before purchasing them. The house has also been made ADA accessible this year.

The Main Street lights, which were installed and paid for by Main Street Martinez and the Martinez Shell Refinery, will be illuminated for the first time on Friday at the Light Parade. The parade begins at 6:30 p.m. -- there will be a jump house, face painting, crafts and more.

Also on Friday, there will be a Reindeer Stop at the Veteran's Hall, corner of Court and Ward streets; a Gingerbread House at the Martinez Museum; a Hot Cocoa Stop at Natural Healings, Court and Pine streets; Candy Cane Lane at the Martinez Library on Court Street; Elves Workshop at the Martinez Gallery, 630 Court St., and the lighting of the Spirit Tree at 5:30 p.m. at the corner of Court and Pine streets.

Will you be attending the holiday festivities on Main Street this year?
