CW3 Soccer Association Brings On New General Manager Supporting Youth Soccer in Area Communities

CW3 Soccer Association Brings On New General Manager Players come from West Bloomfield, Commerce, Walled Lake, Wolverine Lake, Wixom and surrounding area.

CW3 Soccer Association announced today the appointment of Mike Scobie to General Manager of the youth sports organization.

CW3SA is comprised of the CW3 Extreme - a select and premier level soccer club, and a recreational program – with teams open to all players. Together the organization offers soccer opportunities to girls and boys from 3 to 18 years of age.

Bringing on Scobie in the general manager’s position is part of an agreement between CW3 and the Michigan Jaguars soccer organization. Also included in the agreement are provisions for CW3 Extreme players to participate in Michigan Jaguar training programs, exposing them to the Jaguars’ advanced training curriculum and enriching their soccer experience.

“We see this as a positive example of how youth organizations can work to bring neighboring communities together,” said Paul Tinnion, Director of Coaching for the Michigan Jaguars. “The addition of these programs will be of great benefit to the kids and that is what it is all about.”

Scobie is grounded in the community, having grown up in Wixom, attended Walled Lake Junior High School and Walled Lake Central High School, and now resides in Commerce Township. “Mike is well known and respected in the soccer community and has 16 years of youth coaching experience,” said Amy Grzymkowski, President of CW3SA. “We are fortunate to have someone of his caliber leading our program in a way that will provide even greater opportunities to our players.”

“Mike has a wealth of experience at the competitive level of soccer.  Mike’s leadership, together with the programs the Jaguars are providing to our players, will greatly enhance the soccer experience for our members.  Instead of trying to build these programs ourselves, with Mike and the support of the Jaguars, we’ve pressed the fast-forward button for our members,” said James Taylor, Chairman of the CW3 Extreme.  “This move also bolsters our recreational soccer program giving the volunteer coaches a level of support they have not had on a consistent basis in the past.  It is important to note that volunteerism is still a key factor to CW3’s success.   All around, we expect a more uniform, cohesive program for kids as they progress from beginners to accomplished players.”

“I am proud to be associated with CW3 and look forward to my new role,” says Scobie. “As a former player myself, I know how important sports can be in a child’s life. This program provides all the elements necessary for kids to have fun, learn soccer skills and develop a love of the game. This all happens in an environment that promotes the value of teamwork and fair play. I am excited to be working with the CW3 volunteers, parents, coaches and especially the kids.”

Current CW3 players and their families are invited to an upcoming informational session where they can talk with Mike Scobie. The “Meet Scobie” program is a chance to ask questions and become more familiar with the variety of soccer opportunities available. This will be held Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Geisler Middle School in Commerce Township.
