Clean Energy advocates, DTE ratepayers urge utility to drop dirty, pricey coal
“It’s time DTE sees the writing on the wall. According to a recent report by the Michigan Public Service Commission, DTE ratepayers were hardest hit by the rising costs of importing dirty coal from other states, with their monthly bills rising an average of more than $75 a month,” Keller said, who is also a DTE ratepayer. “The rising cost of coal has directly impacted Michigan ratepayers and it continues to pollute air and water throughout the Great Lakes region. On the other hand, clean sources of energy like wind and solar have become a more viable and affordable energy choice for Michigan families.”
