Community Corner

A place for mom or dad...

National referral companies not only hurt local advisers, but whole industry! There are new facilities opening their doors for potential residents. They are desperate to fill out their beds. Most of them are new to the business and really do not have much experience. Yes, caring for your own mom/dad can't qualify as experience yet. It takes years and years of dedicated work to gain all the knowledge to be able to offer most attentive care for those in need. But here we have new facility owners who would take any resident for as little as they want to offer. National referral agency do not concern if new home is able to provide right level of care or if resident has special needs. They only care about commission they will collect. At the end we have neglected resident and family who have to start their search all over.... unfortunately they call the same adviser. Paradox!
It undermines all hard work we, professional caregivers, have to put into caring for elderly/disabled population.
Please, consider calling local agents if you search for best community for your parents.
