Burglars Gain Access to Businesses Through Roofs

are investigating a string of burglaries that occured sometime over Labor Day weekend.

Officers responded to , 6267 Haggerty Rd., on Tuesday morning when the owner reported the business was burglarized when it was closed during the holiday weekend, Lt. Tim Diamond said. A person or people entered through a hole in the roof, but nothing was taken from the salon, investigators determined.

The suspects then went to the bathroom and smashed a hole in the drywall through to the next business, Skinny's Skin Salon, 6271 Haggerty. Nothing was taken from Skinny's, either, according to Diamond. A hole in the south wall was created to Paris Bakery, 6275 Haggerty, where, Diamond said, $600-$700 was stolen. A sledgehammer was found at the scene, he said.

The incidents are similar to in which burglars entered businesses through roofs, Diamond said.

"When you get this many, it’s usually the same crew. (Police) will work with other departments and surveillance units and somebody’s usually got a lead somewhere," he said.

During the same time frame, about $130 worth of cash and merchandise was stolen from , 2083 Hiller Rd., after thieves broke a hole in the roof, Diamond said. They apparently exited through the back door.
