Car Hits Outback Steakhouse; No One Hurt

The steakhouse on Maple Road and Orchard Lake Road remains open for business after the accident around 4 p.m. today.

A driver jumped a curb and hit the Wednesday, causing visible damage near the entrance to the restaurant but resulting in no injuries.

A 72-year-old female West Bloomfield resident said that she was taking her three grandchildren to dinner at the steakhouse on Maple Road and Orchard Lake Road when, upon arriving near the front door of the restaurant, she jumped the curb and hit the wall next to the door with her daughter-in-law's 2000 Honda Odyssey. Neither the woman nor any of her grandchildren were hurt.

Restaurant management said that the restaurant would remain open and that the Oakland County Health Division has been called to assess the situation.

The driver, who asked not to be named, said she had passed tests to ensure that she was not under the influence. She added that the vehicle typically runs well and that the vehicle remains driveable. Traffic was not backed up on Orchard Lake Road due to the accident.

Police could not be reached to confirm or answer if tickets were issued.
