Costume-Clad 'Super Drunk' Strikes Cop, Police Say

Wixom woman pulled over on suspicion of drunken driving struck officer at the police department, according to police.

As a scantily-clad drunken driver was arrested and changing clothes Sunday morning at headquarters, she struck her arresting officer, according to Lt. Tim Diamond.

Diamond said Tisha Conklin, 37, of Wixom attacked the officer after being pulled over coming home from a Halloween party about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Diamond said Conklin, who was dressed in costume, was asked to change into scrubs, and went into a police bathroom to do so.

Upon exiting, she attacked the officer with a closed fist to the face before being subdued by several officers and placed in a cell, Diamond said. The arresting officer did not seek medical treatment.

"It's not all that infrequent, especially with drunk drivers," Diamond said. "Once the enormity of the situation hits them, usually they're in the jail area, and sometimes, they become combative."

Prior to striking the officer, Conklin had been pulled over for badly swerving as she traveled south on Haggerty Road toward Maple Road, Diamond said. Conklin failed a variety of field sobriety tests and later tested over the state's "Super Drunk" limit of 0.17 body alcohol content, Diamond said. The difference carries with it double fines and fees.
