Courts Roundup: Ex-Cop Pindzia Headed for Trial; Home Invasion/Fleeing Suspect's Case Bound Over

Jeffrey Pindzia, a 17-year veteran of the police department who resigned April 1, will have a jury trial Nov. 10 for his role in an alleged ticket-fixing incident.

A former West Bloomfield Township police officer and a Southfield man, both charged in an , will face a jury trial in November.

Jeffrey Scott Pindzia, 38, of Canton Township, was a 17-year veteran of the when he amid charges of misconduct in office and conspiracy to commit misconduct in office. He faces a jury trial Nov. 10 on the felony charges, which are punishable by up to five years in prison and fines up to $20,000.

Co-defendant Rudi S. Gammo, 31, is charged with conspiracy for allegedly aiding and abetting the scheme between Nov. 16 and Dec. 12, 2010.

Both men . Pindzia's attorney, Mitchell Ribitwer, said at the time that he would seek to have charges against Pindzia dismissed. Neither Ribitwer nor Gammo's attorney, Neil Rockind, would comment at the men's pretrial exam Tuesday in Oakland County Circuit Court.

High-speed chase suspect bound over

A Hazel Park man charged with home invasion, fleeing and various other offenses related to in West Bloomfield had his case bound over for Oakland County Circuit Court on Monday.

, 22, remains in custody in the Oakland County Jail after allegedly breaking into another man's car in the 3600 block of MacNichol around 4:40 a.m. June 23. After fleeing the scene in a 2000 Chrysler 300, Gould led officers on a high-speed chase through the subdivision, over lawns and causing an unknown amount of property damage before crashing into some landscaping, according to police.

Gould was , including first-degree home invasion, to which he pleaded not guilty. He was also charged with two counts of larceny from a motor vehicle, reckless driving and fleeing.

Gould waived his preliminary exam with Judge Kimberly Small on Monday and has an arraignment scheduled July 21 with Judge Denise Langford Morris. Gould's attorney could not be reached for comment.
