Among the highlights of recent West Bloomfield Police reports:

Detroit man arrested for running over worker on Pontiac Trail

A road worker was struck and injured on Pontiac Trail, near Denby Street, on Feb. 6 after a driver intentionally hit him, Lt. Tim Diamond said Tuesday.

Diamond said that Mark Savage, 46, of Detroit, was arrested on Sunday after the license plate on his white-colored Hyundai was used by West Bloomfield detectives to locate him.

Diamond continued that the worker, a private company employee doing gravel work on Denby, had parked his truck perpendicular to Pontiac Trail and stopped traffic. Savage, driving eastbound, exchanged words with the worker when he was forced to slow down to get past the trucks that day, according to Diamond.

Diamond continued that after the two men had spoken, Savage drove past the area about 10 feet and backed up at a high rate of speed, striking the worker and hurting him. The man was admitted to Farmington Botsford Hospital with muscle and tendon damage, but no broken bones, he said.

Savage was arrested and charged with felonious assault and battery and use of a motor vehicle in commission of a Felony, Diamond said, and arraigned at 48th District Court. According to the Oakland County Jail, Savage is not currently lodged.

Detroit man arrested after leading police on a chase

A Detroit man who had prior arrests and would not stop for police after a traffic violation was arrested at the Thornberry Apartments Feb. 4, Diamond said.

An officer on patrol at the 14 Mile and Farmington Road intersection noticed the man, Lamar Dajuan Eddington, 29, swerving while driving north on Farmington at about 3:26 a.m., Diamond said. The officer tried to pull him over with sirens and overhead lights as he was driving just south of Maple Road, but Eddington would not pull over, according to Diamond.

Eddington led police on a chase, never exceeding around 40 mph, continuing west on Maple and turning north on Village Park Drive before stopping near the entrance of the apartment complex, Diamond continued. The officer got out of her patrol car and Eddington tried to escape at that moment, Diamond said, but another officer on patrol cut him off at the entrance of the complex and he was arrested.

Eddington was arrested for Fleeing and Eluding. Police investigators said that Eddington was driving with a suspended license and was found with marijuana in his possession. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, as well as Contempt of Court, as a result of a probation violation.

Eddington is lodged at Oakland County Jail, with a $50,000 bond cash/surety on the fleeing and eluding charge, as well as a $10,000 bond cash/surety on the probation violation. He was several holds from Detroit Traffic court for failure to appear in court.
