Detroit Police: West Bloomfield Couple's Slain Daughter Likely Knew Her Killer

Two men face charges after being found with Tiane Brown's cell phone, but police do not believe they had anything to do with her death.

A murdered Wayne State University student with ties to West Bloomfield likely knew the person who killed her, Detroit Police Chief James Craig told the Detroit News Wednesday.

Tiane Brown was reported missing on Oct. 28, after she failed to pick up her three children at her parents' West Bloomfield home. The Waterford Township resident was found dead inside her vehicle, at the Packard Plant site in Detroit, on Oct. 30.

“We don’t believe this was some random attack," Craig told the newspaper. "Probably my police instincts kicking in, knowing what I know about the case right now.”

Two men face charges after being found with Brown's cell phone, but "investigators believe they had nothing to do with the murder," the newspaper reported.
