Disoriented Man Found; Resident's Identity Stolen

Disoriented man wandering street taken to hospital

A 54-year-old West Bloomfield resident was found by two other residents around 8:10 p.m. Thursday walking in the middle of Drake Road near 14 Mile Road, West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond said.

The man had fallen while walking home from his synagogue, and felt disoriented while bleeding from the side of his head, Diamond said. Police and EMS responders took the man to the hospital, he said.

Resident becomes victim of identity theft

A West Bloomfield resident fell victim to identity theft Sept. 27, Diamond said.

The man, who lives on the 5500 block of Fox Ridge, went to the station to report he had received a call from a collection agency claiming he owed $1,900 to Comcast for a services he never received.

Although the incident is under investigation and charges haven't been filed, Diamond noted that similar reports often come through the West Bloomfield Police Department and offered a number of tips for residents on how to fight possible identity theft.

"If it sounds weird, it probably is," Diamond said, referring to phone calls in which someone asks for personal identification such as date of birth or Social Security number over the phone. "Tell them that you'll return the call, hang up, and call the station."

• two retail fraud
• two warrants
• driving with a suspended license
• assist with other department
