Former West Bloomfield Man Charged in Beating of Ex-Wife's Boyfriend

Police say jealousy motivated Norman Lee to break into the Pontiac home and assault the man while he was sleeping.

An former West Bloomfield resident was arraigned Wednesday in Pontiac on charges he tried to kill a man living with his ex-wife, police said. 

Norman Lee was charged with one count assault with intent to murder, with a bond set at $50,000 by Judge Rhonda Gross, Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe said in a release. He is also charged with one count of first-degree home invasion, he said.

Lee, 29, now lives in Columbus, OH, and has no prior record. If convicted, he could be in jail for life.

Lee was arrested Tuesday by Oakland County Sheriff's Office detectives from the Pontiac Substation after he allegedly broke into his ex-wife's home in the 100 block of East Hopkins in Pontiac and beat the male victim with a metal bar as he was sleeping, McCabe said. Police said the motive was jealousy. Lee and his wife divorced in 2010.
