Man Arrested for Indecent Exposure on Trail

The following information was provided by the West Bloomfield Township Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Lone woman walker flees scene

A 48-year-old West Bloomfield resident walking on the West Bloomfield Trail at 7:52 p.m. Monday witnessed an indecent exposure, Police Lt. Tim Diamond said Tuesday.

The suspect, a 33-year-old West Bloomfield resident, was sitting on a bench at the trail near Orchard Lake Road and Long Lake Road. His  shorts were down to his knees, exposing his genitals to the woman. She left quickly and informed the WBPD, who contacted the Orchard Lake Police Department. The OLPD found a man matching the description walking along the trail. The suspect, whose name has not been released because he has not been arraigned, was arrested without incident and is being held while WBPD detectives seek a warrant.

“It happens a couple of times every year, probably because the area is so remote,” Diamond said. “You can certainly understand how it can be scary for a single woman to be there alone at that time when something like that happens.”

Update on jailed armed robbery suspect

After investigating, detectives presented the case to the Oakland County prosecutor's office and a warrant was authorized. At that time, Fret was in jail on an unrelated charge of armed robbery in Dearborn. Diamond said that the prosecutor will likely not be given a writ of capias, defined as orders to "take" a person or assets, until September. In the meantime, Fret will remain in jail on $100,000 bond. However, even if he makes bail, he would not be free.

“If by some chance (Fret) was released, we’d have a hold on him. We’d pick him up and he’d be arraigned then. Once we arraign him, he’ll have a high bond. But based on what we’ve heard, he’s not making bond anyway, so he’s likely not going anywhere,” Diamond said.

The case has been assigned to 48th District Court Judge Kimberly Small.

Angry driver assaults bicyclist

A bicyclist was assaulted Aug. 3 while riding on Green Lake Road and Richardson Road at 7:30 p.m., Aug. 3, Diamond said.

Diamond said that the cyclist, a 48-year-old West Bloomfield man, was riding north on Green Lake toward Richardson and raised his arm to signal a left turn left at the intersection. Diamond said a driver in a red Jeep Wrangler behind the bicyclist pulled the rider over and attempted to throw hot coffee on him.

Diamond said the suspect then ran from his car toward the bicyclist and scuffled with him; no serious injuries resulted. The suspect, a 50-year-old white male with short, gray hair, fled eastbound on Richardson. The cyclists did not get the suspect’s license plate number.
