Man Pleads No Contest in Golf Club Attack on West Bloomfield Resident

Glenn Steven Lott will be sentenced on an assault charge Aug. 16.

An Oakland Township man accused of attacking a West Bloomfield resident at Westwynd Golf Course in Waterford last month has pleaded no contest to a charge of aggravated assault.

Glenn Steven Lott was arraigned in District 52-3 court the day after the June 6 attack. According to an Oakland County Sheriff's Department incident report, witnesses confirmed that Lott broke a golf club over the West Bloomfield man's arm, then used the broken club to stab the injured arm, after the West Bloomfield man asked about a score on a previous hole.

The report said that two other members of their foursome held Lott down while the West Bloomfield man drove toward the clubhouse in a golf cart. Lott broke loose, drove away in a second golf cart, and left the area in his car before deputies arrived.

The West Bloomfield man was treated at the scene and went on his own to an Urgent Care facility, where he received stitches. Lott refused to talk with authorities, who found half the broken golf club, a Callaway 5 iron, on the golf courseand the other half in Lott's golf bag.

According to the Oakland County Court Explorer website, Lott was formally charged on June 18 with felonious assault and aggravated assault. His no contest plea was recorded June 28, and his sentencing is scheduled Aug. 16.

The Oakland Press reports that, as a condition of his plea, Lott has agreed not to enter any golf course in Oakland, Wayne or Macomb counties. According to thesmokinggun.com, Lott "is a former Drake University football star", but never played professional football.
