Man Threatens Family, Cars Broken Into

Highlights of incidents reported to West Bloomfield Police from March 22-29.

Highlights from recent West Bloomfield Township police reports:

Cars broken into at gym

Larcenies from two locked cars at were reported to West Bloomfield Police.

Sometime between 5:20-6:20 p.m. Friday, a Louis Vuitton purse with $175 in cash inside was reported taken from a 2003 Buick Century parked in the lot after the front right side window was smashed out. Within the same time period, a briefcase was reported stolen from a 2007 Ford Fusion after the front right side window was smashed out as well.

There are no surveillance cameras in the parking lot and police had no suspects.

“As the weather gets warmer, we expect to have more larcenies from autos,” Police Lt. Tim Diamond said Tuesday. “The (thieves) kids don’t like going out in the cold.”

19-year-old charged with felonious assault

A 19-year-old West Bloomfield resident was arrested Sunday after threatening his brother and mother with a pocket knife, according to a police report.

The suspect, who was arguing with his 15-year-old brother at their home and pointed the knife at his throat, also threatened his 58-year-old mother with the knife after she intervened, police said. Sometime during the dispute, police were called and the suspect was taken into custody without incident, Diamond said.

The suspect was arraigned at 48th District Court on Sunday, charged with assault with a dangerous weapon/felonious assault.
