Police Catch Escapee at Cooley Lake Road

A 27-year-old West Bloomfield resident faces assault and other charges after leading cops on three-hour chase through a swamp this morning.

After a three-hour search early this morning, West Bloomfield Police apprehended a man who had escaped their custody that day.

The search for the man, a 27-year-old West Bloomfield resident, occurred near the intersection of Cooley Lake Road and Weymouth Street after he allegedly assaulted a roommate with a kitchen knife, police Lt. Mike Turner said.

Police received the assault report about 6:30 a.m. and placed the man under arrest at his home. He then escaped on foot through a swamp, leading police on a pursuit that lasted three hours.
