Police Investigate Possible Embezzlement in West Bloomfield

No charges have been filed in a case that involves commissions paid by a West Bloomfield company.

A West Bloomfield company contacted police Monday to report the suspected embezzlement of more than $35,000 by a former employee.

According to Lieutenant Tim Diamond, Singh Property Management Company, which owns 35 apartment buildings, seven senior living facilities and seven commercial buildings in metro Detroit, told police the employee worked with debt collection. The man received a salary and commission on a scale that increased the more he collected.

Diamond said the man's salary for 2012 exceeded $95,000, which caught the company's attention. The case is under investigation; Diamond said detectives have to sift through a lot of information before presenting the case to the Oakland County prosecutor's office for possible charges.
