Police: Man Was High While Driving with Infant

The following information was provided by the West Bloomfield Township Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

A 33-year-old West Bloomfield man was arrested in the early morning hours of March 17 on charges stemming from allegedly driving while smoking marijuana in the car with an 11-month-old in the back seat, according to West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond.

The man, who drove with his wife, 23, in the passenger seat, had been pulled over for expired tags while heading southbound on Orchard Lake Road near 14 Mile, Diamond said. When the officer approached the man's vehicle, she noticed the smell of marijuana eminating from a plastic bag that was later found to contain a marijuana joint and tested positive for marijuana. The man's wife told the officer he had been smoking while driving without a valid license, Diamond said.
