reports from Jan. 10-17 included 46 alarms, 41 crashes and 18 arrests. Among the highlights:
Wallet taken from cart of unsuspecting shopper
An mother with an infant child had her Coach brand wallet taken from her cart as she shopped at Kohl's on Jan. 13, according to West Bloomfield Police Lt. Tim Diamond.
"I know a lot of ladies will put their purses in their cart and then get distracted and walk away. That's the perfect opportunity for someone who has noticed that for whatever reason to take it," Diamond said.
The 26-year-old Waterford resident had placed her wallet in her purse and walked away from her cart about 7:30 p.m. that day, Diamond said. The wallet contained about $20 cash and several gift cards to various area outlet stores.
Police are investigating with a lead based off of an image that was captured from the store's surveillance cameras, he said.
GPS unit taken from parked minivan
A $400 Nuvi brand GPS unit was stolen from an unlocked 2008 Chevrolet minivan parked in the owner's driveway on the 1600 block of Stauch Drive, Diamond said.
The incident was reported Jan. 13 at 3:54 p.m.
Nothing else was taken and there were no signs of forced entry, Diamond said.
