Tapper's Offers Reward for Stolen Rolex

Here are highlights of incidents reported to the West Bloomfield Police Department from Feb. 22-Tuesday.

The needs help to find a man suspected of retail fraud involving a $29,000 Rolex watch.

The watch, a Rolex Presidential, yellow/gold in color and featuring a round black wave dial, was taken from  in Orchard Mall around 5 p.m. Saturday, according to police reports.

Owner Steven Tapper said a reward of $1,500 is offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.

The suspect had been trying on various watches when he suddenly fled with the Rolex, Lt. Tim Diamond said. Tapper said no one was injured and that business continued as usual for the longtime West Bloomfield retailer.

"We have fingerprints that we believe are accurate, and we need help to find this individual," Tapper said.

The suspect is described as a male, around 35 years old, 6 feet tall and 200 pounds and “heavy” with “fat hands,” Diamond said. The suspect wore a short-brimmed hat, a bulky vest, dark jeans and brown boots.

Nuvi 1300 GPS unit missing

Sometime between midnight-6 a.m. Sunday, someone stole a Nuvi 1300 GPS unit worth $100 from a man's car on the 1500 block of Tamson Street. Diamond noted that there were no witnesses or suspects and that the reporting person was not sure whether his car was locked that night.

$19,000 diamond ring missing

Police reports state that sometime between Nov. 1 and Feb. 23, a reporting person believes that a gold ring with a diamond in it worth an estimated $19,000 was taken from her home on the 6900 block of Carlisle Crossing. Police have no witnesses or suspects.

Hospital cell phone missing

Police reports state that between noon-5 p.m. Feb. 16, someone stole a cell phone at . The cell phone, which was assigned to a particular doctor, is a silver Polycom Spectralink 820 model that cannot make calls to numbers outside of the hospital. According to Diamond, the doctor said he had put the phone down and walked away, and when he came back, it was gone.
