Teacher Facing Criminal Sexual Conduct Charges Back in Court

Stephen Larkin waives his right to a preliminary exam within 14 days of his arraignment and was assigned an Oct. 1 court date.

Stephen Larkin, the 30-year-old West Bloomfield High teacher arraigned in 48th District Court Friday on three counts of criminal sexual misconduct, will be back in court on Oct. 1.

According to a report in The Oakland Press, Larkin on Wednesday waived his right to a preliminary exam within 14 days of his Sept. 13 arraignment. The Farmington Hills resident remains free on $10,000 bond. He faces three counts of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct.

Officials say Larkin inappropriately touched a 16-year-old, 10th grade student, during a tutoring session in a West Bloomfield High classroom. Employed since 2006, he served as head coach for the girls golf team and taught history before being placed on administrative leave in May. Larkin previously coached basketball and football.
