Trial Set for Novi Pediatrician Accused of Criminal Sexual Conduct

West Bloomfield resident Jeffrey Dembs faces charges based on allegations made by a 14-year-old boy.

Oakland County Circuit Court Judge Shalina Kumar on Tuesday set a trial date of Oct. 21 for Dr. Jeffrey Lee Dembs, 61, a West Bloomfield resident accused of criminal sexual conduct.

Dembs, a doctor at the My Kid's Doc office on 12 Mile Road in Novi, is charged with one count of first degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of second degree criminal sexual conduct, all with a person younger than 13. The incidents are believed to have occurred from spring 2009 to summer 2010.

In January, Troy-based criminal defense attorney Gerry Gleeson said Dembs had taken a voluntary leave of absence from work and maintained his client's innocence.

Documents obtained by Patch under the Freedom of Information Act outlined allegations made by a teenaged boy about more than 70 incidents involving sexual contact that occurred between 2009 and 2010.

Dembs, who is free on bond, is due back in court for another pretrial hearing on Sept. 12.
