Impersonator pulls over West Bloomfield woman

A 19-year-old West Bloomfield woman told police May 19 that she was driving on Maple Road near Orchard Lake Road when an unidentified person impersonating a police officer pulled her over.

She was driving home around 12:30 a.m. and after turning eastbound on Maple Road from northbound Orchard Lake Road she noticed that what she thought was a late-1990's model Pontiac Bonneville had closed in on her at a high speed, according to the police report. She noticed a blue and red light in the shape of a cylinder on the car's dashboard and became suspicious, choosing to pull over into a neighborhood and call her family.

The driver apparently noticed her suspicion and circled her vehicle before driving away. Police are investigating the incident.

Step-daughter named in missing jewelry report

An 82-year-old resident told police May 19 that he suspects his widow's daughter has stolen $33,000 worth of jewelry in addition to legal documents connected to her mother.

The man told police that his wife had recently died and that allegedly against the wishes of her will, the woman's daughter, a 59-year-old Novi resident, took at least 15 items of jewelry including diamonds and gold valued at around $33,000 and her will.  The man claims the missing will is identical to his will.

The man said that the lawyer who wrote the will died 10 years ago and that it was filed in another county, making it difficult to obtain a duplicate. The report said that the only other two suspects who had access to the jewelry are the daughter's son and the daughter's brother, both of whom are not likely to have taken the jewelry, according to the man. Police are investigating.
