WBPD Promotes Veteran Officer to Sergeant

The West Bloomfield Police Department added a 12th sergeant to its ranks.

The West Bloomfield Township Police Department promoted long-time officer Darin Page to sergeant this week as part of budgeted plans to return to a dozen shift supervisors.

Chief Mike Patton said Page, 44, is a 19-year department veteran and served the community in several capacities, including as an evidence technician, crash investigator and a field-training officer.

"We're very pleased to have a well-rounded, experienced officer join the shift command," Patton said.

Page will begin supervising midnight patrol shifts in his new role.

The command position was vacant since the department cutback for budgetary reasons in 2011. Filling it will not be the only staffing changes planned for 2013, Patton said.

Though positions are not yet posted, the department is budgeted to add three officers this year. It will be the first new officer hires for the department, which currently has 70 sworn officers, in five years.
