West Bloomfield High Teacher Faces Sexual Misconduct Charges

Farmington Hills resident Steven Larkin coached girls golf and taught history before he was placed on administrative leave in May.

West Bloomfield High teacher Steve Larkin, 30, pleaded not guilty Friday to three counts of criminal sexual conduct, following what officials say was an incident of inappropriate contact with a female student.

According to published reports, Larkin is a Farmington Hills resident and has taught at the school since 2006. He served as head coach for the girls golf team and taught history before being placed on administrative leave in May, the Detroit Free Press reported

According to WDIV-TV, the incident occurred "during an after school one-on-one tutoring session in a classroom" with a 16-year-old, 10th grade student.

“Anytime there is an allegation, we are concerned about school safety and we want to assure parents that we take it very seriously and are cooperating with authorities,” Superintendent Gerald Hill told the newspaper.

Larkin is free on bond; he is expected back in 48th District Court on Tuesday.
