West Bloomfield Home Invasion Nets Electronics, Nikes

Police say someone got into the Chimney Hill apartment by kicking through the wall.

A resident in 5000 block of Cherrywood contacted West Bloomfield Police shortly after midnight on April 13, to report the theft of items from his Chimney Hill apartment. 

According to Lieutenant Tim Diamond, the resident came home to find the apartment ransacked, and police discovered someone had kicked through the drywall from a vacant next door unit. Police believe the thief or thieves got into the vacant apartment through an unlocked outside door. 

Items taken include a 37-inch Mitsubishi television set, a Dell computer and two pairs of Nike tennis shoes.

Damage to property

A subdivision association sign located in the 5000 block of Applegrove was damaged with spray paint sometime between April 2 and April 15, according to a police report. Diamond said someone also pulled out ground lights around the sign. Damages totalled an estimated $200.
