West Bloomfield Man Faces Federal Explosives Charges

A West Bloomfield man faces federal explosives charges stemming from a federal investigation.
The Detroit News reports that a criminal complaint unsealed Thursday at U.S. District Court in Detroit accuses Alaa Manuel Qasawa, 49, of trying to receive, possess and store stolen explosives without a license or permit.
Wednesday as neighbors commented on his pleasant nature with family.

"You'd always see (Qasawa) playing," longtime neighbor Larry Folkoff told Patch. "They're just regular neighbors."
A federal affidavit said that in August, Qasawa asked about buying detonators and grenades from a company in Scranton, PA. Authorities claim Qasawa was attempting to manufacture explosives.
