West Bloomfield Police Investigate Check Fraud, Thefts

A non-profit and a business both contacted police in mid-to-late December.

The treasurer of a non-profit club contacted West Bloomfield Township Police Dec. 24, to report a number of checks from the organization had been fraudulently cashed.

Lieutenant Curt Lawson said a total of $442.97 was taken; checks were cashed beginning on Dec. 18. Detectives are investigating.

Police have suspects in the theft of checks taken from a home in the 2000 block of Lakeshire Drive, Lawson said. The six business checks were taken between Dec. 15 and Dec. 23.
